Very Rev. John T. Bacon
Receives Boy Scout Silver Beaver Award
March 2, 2002

The Old Colony Council of the Boy Scouts of America
presented the prestigious Silver Beaver Award on March 2, 2002 to Very
Rev. John 1. Bacon of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, at a dinner with
over 300 in attendance. The Silver Beaver Award is presented by the
National Boy Scouts and is the highest award that a local council can
bestow on a volunteer for rendering outstanding service to Scout
Youth.
Father John is
the official national representative of the Orthodox Church of America
to the Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting as well as the EOCS
Outreach Coordinator for New England. A long time dedicated volunteer
Scouter whose scouting career goes back to his youth as a Cub Scout in
pack78 and then crossed the bridge to Boy Scout troop
75 in Dennis, Massachusetts. He was the first Eagle Scout in
troop 75 and continued his involvement in scouting as an adult for 30
years.
It is with great pride that the Old Colony BSA Council
recognized the unusual community leadership and service to the Scout
Youth by honoring Very Rev. John T. Bacon with the Silver Beaver
Award.
