Anna Sokolov Receives Alpha Omega Award from Metropolitan Theodosius

His Beatitude, Theodosius, Archbishop of Washington, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, presented the Alpha Omega Award to Anna Sokolov, a Sea Scout in the SSS Viking of San Francisco, following Divine Liturgy on the Sunday of Pentecost, June 22, 2002. The services were held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Orthodox Church of America, where Anna’s father, Fr. Victor Sokolov is the Dean.

Anna is an Apprentice in the Sea Scout Ship Viking of San Francisco. A historic sailing whaleboat, the SSS Viking had been a chartered Sea Scout Ship for over 60 years. Anna is the fourth Sokolov to be a Sea Scout in San Francisco. Her brothers, Christopher and Philip, are members of the SSS Corsair, earned the Alpha Omegas as well as Quartermaster, the highest award in Sea Scouts. Her sister, Tamara, was also a member of the SSS Viking and received her Quartermaster just last year. Christopher also received the EOCS scholarship in 1998.

Sea Scouts is part of the Venturing division of the Boy Scouts of America, which provides young men and women 14 to 20 an opportunity to build skills in sailing and seamanship.
