EOCS

The Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting offers up to two $1000 scholarships each year. We select applicants who best demonstrate love of God and the Orthodox Christian Faith through service, scholarship, leadership, and practical citizenship in their church, school, Scouting unit, and community. Scholarships are contingent upon acceptance to an accredited four-year college or university.
 

Eligibility

1. Be a registered active member of an EOCS-recognized scouting program: Scouts BSA (Boy Scouts of America), Exploring, Venturing, Girl Scouts of the USA, Trail Life USA, American Heritage Girls, and Camp Fire.

2. Have earned the Eagle Scout Award, the Gold Award, or highest award of another EOCS-recognized scouting program. (Exploring and Venturing Scouts must have also earned Eagle Scout.)

3. Be a communicant member of an Eastern Orthodox Christian Church recognized by the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the USA.

4. Have earned the EOCS Alpha Omega Religious Award.

5. Be enrolled in the final year of an accredited high school. Homeschooled students should contact the Scholarship Chairman for guidance in completing the application.

 

Timetable

January 1 – May 1:   Complete and submit applications

May 1:                     All applications and supporting materials due*

June 15:                  Scholarship recipients notified

Notes for 2024:

*You must submit your own application form by May 1. Ask your recommenders for letters as early as possible! If you anticipate a problem regarding timely submission of supporting materials, please contact the Scholarship Chairman, mekotsonis@gmail.com, before the due date. 

Without prior contact, late submissions will not be accepted.
